If one considers that the United States is one of the countries that emits the most polluting gases, New York, one of the most populated cities and with the largest movement in the world, also contributes to these indices. Therefore, it is very important to environmental care in the American city.
During the last years, high levels of asthma sufferers and lung conditions linked to the environment have been registered. That is why the Government has implemented measures to help reduce the environmental impact on the population and to prevent future problems.
For example, New York has a lot of green public transportation, because among the thousands and thousands of taxis, most of them are hybrids, whose engines are half gasoline and half non-polluting fuels. The same occurs with buses, whose fleet increases to reduce the environmental impact.
Despite these data, New York does everything possible not to use cars, as its public transportation is very efficient. Thus, they have managed to consume energy very efficiently, although much remains to be done.
