The Sami or Lapp people live in Lapland, a region that passes over the northern norway.
There are no official statistics on the amount of population, but some 80.000 Lapps are believed to still live in Europe.
Archaeological evidence has been found on this town dating from over 11.000 years old.
Ceramics from the ancestors of the Lapps dating back 3.500 years have also been found.
Nowadays Lapps are considered the indigenous population of Scandinavia and they claim their rights as an indigenous people.
Its culture is strongly influenced by hunting and fishing activities. Today only 10% of the Lapp population is nomadic and dedicated to baby reindeer.
For many, many years the Lapps resisted society's attempts to assimilate them to it, until in 1903 a political newspaper denounced these assimilation attempts, which caused many, many groups and sectors of the region will support the cause defended by these indigenous and they helped to be left in peace by preserving their ancient culture and customs.
