Tim Tam, Australian Chocolate Cookies

And we continue with the Australian sweets and desserts. To Australia we owe the tasty Pavlova dessert of meringue and red fruits but if we go to a kiosk in Sydney or Melbourne and we crave something sweet there are many national options: the Violet Crumble is one, of course, but there are also chocolate cookies called Tim Tam. They are milk chocolate cookies filled with a chocolate cream and covered in chocolate too. A delight!

It seems that about 35 million of Tim Tam is sold per year and not only in Australia but also in the surrounding area, in New Zealand and New Caledonia. It is a treat that is already its years old since it was born in 1964 and is named after the Kentucky Derby winning horse. The original cookies were armed with other cookies, English, which are not made anymore. Tim Tam cookies have some variations as there is a caramel flavor and a dark chocolate flavor. Needless to say, they are all tasty.

And they have gone even further, to Canada, the United States and Hong Kong.
