They say it is the most glamorous state in Brazil, but in reality Bahía it is still just a strip of quiet fishing villages on a coastline so stretched out that many beaches are not even listed on the map.

Bahia has 1.000 kilometers of coastline where you can walk along them for hours and not see another soul. Precisely, if it is about its best beaches and places to stay, you have to take into account these two places:

Trancoso

Upon landing here in the 1500s, the Portuguese first marveled not at the golden sandy bays, nor at the abundant forest beyond, but at the women.

Trancoso retains an element of its origins from the 1970s with the hippies. On a hill above the beach, there is a town full of colorful houses and a church where locals attend.

Trancoso, like the coast of southern Bahia, is full of cliffs and plateaus, with beaches with reefs and coconut trees creating that atmosphere of tranquility and good options for relaxing vacations, accommodation and good food.

The island of Boipeba

The island is relatively unknown, even in Brazil. There are few tourists, those who come and go down to the boat with a bathing suit, a book and little else, and stay in simple beach huts. There are no cars, no roads, and its metropolis is a Happy Village, autonomous whose cobbled lanes converge on a green area.

This island is part of the Archipelago of Tinharé surrounded by the ocean on one side and, on the other, by the estuary of the Rio do Inferno.

This island offers a natural beauty and diversity of ecosystems which is integrated into the Area of Environmental Preservation of the Islands of Tinharé e Boipeba. And due to its natural heritage, the region was recognized as a Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Incredible are its reefs that extend along the coast which warily protect some of the beaches from waves and currents…. A true paradise for surfers!
