Festivities of San Pedro and San Pablo

party

The day 29 June are celebrated in different areas of Peru the festivities of San Pedro and San Pablo. One of its most popular events is the processions maritime events that take place in numerous ports throughout the country and which attract many tourists and devotees. For example, such as those that develop in the coves of Chorrillos and Lurín in Lima, where the image of San Pedro is carried through the waters in a boat to request a good year of fishing.

Saints of fishermen and peasants, San Pedro and San Pablo are very dear to the Peruvian people and on June 29 they remember their work with great enthusiasm. This day is also known as "the Pope's day", since on June 28, all over the world, a collection is made for the Pope's works of charity. In Peru it is celebrated especially in the coastal areas where the boats go out to sea to accompany the image of the adorned saint, as for example in Chimbote, where a multitude of boats and launches depart from the pier to Isla Blanca. In the areas of the sierra, these festivities coincide with the cleaning of the communal ditches.

Addition maritime processions, throughout the country religious events are celebrated, such as a Eucharist in the central Basilica of Lima, presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio in Peru, or solemn masses in the cathedral of Huancayo or in one's own Chimbote.
