Yarinacocha Lagoon

One day an attractive young Portuguese man arrived, with whom Nadianré fell in love, and despite the refusal of the village elders, she began a relationship with the young man. One day, in one of their love dates, the young man did not appear, so Nadianré desperately asked the animals if they had seen his beloved, but the answer was negative, until an old parrot told him that he had seen him leave. Heading for the port, Nadianré ran trying to catch up with him, but when he reached the port he could only see the ship moving away on the horizon. Plunged in great sadness and heartbroken, she took shelter in the fin of a lupuna and cried her misery inconsolably ... She cried for so long that her tears formed a stream and as her pain was immense she cried and cried until finally her tears they formed the great Lake of Yarinacocha.

Located seven kilometers from Pucallpa, it results from a meander of the Ucayali River, famous for the clarity of its waters and the exuberant tropical vegetation that impresses visitors. This lagoon is the habitat of freshwater dolphins, you can fish maidens and paiches, representative fish of the region. From Puerto Callao, an artisan jetty, you can board transportation to go to the different Shipibo-Conibo native communities that surround the lagoon. It is surrounded by ethnic groups descended from the Pano, the native communities of San Francisco, Nuevo Destino and Santa Clara stand out, where you will find friendly and hospitable people, who offer all kinds of crafts from their picturesque homes. Another attraction of the place is the Botanical Garden, a place where you can see a great variety of plants for the use of traditional and alternative medicine.
