A walk through Sao Pedro de Moel

If you want to know a peaceful town away from the bustle of big cities, then you should go to Sao Pedro of Moel , which is a beach community near the city of Marinha Grande, in the district of Leiria.

History tells of its origins that in 1463 Don Alfonso V gave São Pedro de Moel to the Count of Vila Real. At the time, the family had a palace in Leiria and several houses in San Pedro de Moel. They lived on this beach until 1641, when the last Marquis of Vila Real and the Duke of Caminha were executed.

In the 1923th century in Sao Pedro de Moel a thriving resin factory was built, using local resources from the abundant pine forests. It should also be noted that its entire beach was originally part of the Matas Portuguese National Team, but in XNUMX it was reorganized in the Municipality of Marinha Grande.

Points of interest in the town include Velha Praia, Praia da Concha, Penedo da Saudade, the lighthouse and Ribeira de Moel, all slightly to the north. And if it is a walk, you can go to the pine forests where there are several parks, and includes the Ronda de los Siete, which is a beautiful route of about 7 km, by sea, beach, pine forest, parks, fountains and streams.
