Things to do in Caldas da Rainha

Among the sites of interest in Caldas da Rainha are listed:

El Pavilhões Park It is located 10 kilometers (6,2 miles) from the city center, a place for walks where it is found on the border with Óbidos, near Foz do Arelho. Salir do Porto has a beach on the Atlantic Ocean.

Equally attractive is the Church of Nossa Senhora do Pópulo, which is a gothic church near the thermal hospital. It was built around 1500 by order of Queen Eleanor. The church has two associated chapels: Capela de São Sebastião and Capela do Espírito Santo. The Ermida da São Sebastião is a 16th century chapel, next to Praça da República.

Also several museums are located in Caldas da Rainha. The Arts Center It houses three sculpture museums: the António Duarte Museum-Workshop, the Fragoso Museum-Atelier João, and the Feyo Museu Barata. The works of the Museum of Ceramics exhibitions of art ceramics, as well as the House-Museum of San Rafael.

 The Museu do Hospital e das Caldas presents exhibitions related to the thermal hospital and the city. The José Malhoa Museum is an art museum located in the Parque D. Carlos I.

And among the parks and squares stands out the D. Carlos I Park, which is a great park in the center of the city. The José Malhoa Museum is located in the center of the park. The park has a ring-shaped pond with a small island in the center. Visitors can rent rowboats on the pond.

And for a tour nothing better than Republic square  which is a public square in the center of the city. The square, also known as Plaza de la Fruta (Fruit Square), hosts Portugal's unique daily farmers' market. The square is surrounded by more buildings, with shops, banks and cafes on the ground floor.

Equally attractive is the October 5 Square previously hosted the city's open-air fish market, which has moved to an indoor venue (Mercado do Peixe). The plaza is now used for outdoor cafe seating and free cultural events. There is an underground parking garage located below the plaza.

A statue of Queen Eleanor stands in the middle of the rotunda on the Largo Conde de Fontalva, normally called Largo da Rainha.
