Amazing bridges of Miami

Miami Tourism

If the tourist wants to escape from the daily routine in Miami, As a city, you have to address the Florida Keys (archipelago), located two and a half hours drive south of the Capital of the Sun which is connected to the Florida peninsula by means of a highway.

Its length is 113 miles (about 180 kilometers), and this is one of the largest highways in the world, connecting the island with the mainland. Once in the same place there was a railroad, built in 1912 by Henry Morrison Flagler who was a millionaire.

Its length was 160 km, which was the most unimaginable project, especially if we consider that the road was built on water. But it was much cheaper to build a railway than a bridge. It took seven years to build but was destroyed by a hurricane in 1935.

So roads with 42 bridges have been built instead of the railroad. The longest and most amazing bridge is the Seven Mile Bridge, which is 7 miles long (about 11 km) and has a drawbridge. Generally, the bridge is supported by 546 pillars.

The bridge connects the mainland with Key West. This is a major engineering project. But it gives bicycle lovers the possibility to do so. There are some small islands right next to the Seven Mile Bridge, which offer the possibility of going fishing. There are times when the place under the bridge is excellent for tarpon fishing.
